Somewhere in Time

Here's how to look when you're fifty-six.

I remember Jane Seymour from that Sinbad movie.

Imagine my surprise when I saw that at age fourteen.

And it didn't carry over and doesn't haunt me.

Tivo catches this stuff, and what are ya gonna do, practice card tricks?

In other news, some days just exist before you go back to other days.

If you're in a mood for bittersweet longing, how about this?

Weekends were made for sap, sentimentality, and tennis. Anything to avoid kitchen cleanup duty and scroll Serena down the page.

The Sun Will Never Come Up Again

The Chicago Bears might want their linebacker back in time for the Super Bowl.

The essence of femininity, and never say I'm not fair with a parting shot, because they don't know me.

Dog report: Emerson's having a tough January. Deaf now, and had some version of the shakes, but modern medicine seems to be helping. We use hand signals and flashlights these days to get along in a developing code more sophisticated than DaVinci. I'm thinking of dead-dropping it at a park bench to the CIA.

Did you know I interviewed with the CIA my senior year in college? I had a computer science degree, minored in Russian, and held a 184 bowling average at the student union. They were crawling all over me, begging to pay me $17,500/yr to completely sign my life over.

I asked about fringe benefits, like 007 babes a la Denise Richards or Sophie Marceau. The recruiter just looked at me and opened a pamphlet about the niceties of Bucharest hotel fire escapes.

Want a tip on a good cup of coffee? Try the on-sale whole bean Starbucks "Gold Coast." Finally found something that doesn't taste like burnt steel.

Guess Who's Still Winning?

I just lead with her because I know it bugs you. Did you know she is 6'2"?

It's much easier watching a tennis match when you already checked who won on the internet.

No deep philosophy today, depending on what you read into it, but save the carpet, this house is actually pretty clean for a bachelor pad. More important - every device that deals with water is working.

Sometimes I just turn on the garbage disposer to hear it hum.

Or walk around flushing toilets, enraptured when the refill stops with no drips.

Being me is almost more exciting than I can stand.

To fill the void in my otherwise empty life, I'm thinking of renting one of those carpet steam cleaners. Never have had that done in fourteen years, so... you can just imagine. Or I could buy one for a hundred bucks at Fry's. I love that place. Sometimes I just go there to wander around the computer game section or look at the apple computer aisle. None of my computers are apples. I feel like I'm missing out on that fraternity of blood-loyal Mac-geeks. Don't want to be a snob.
